The Minnesota Urban Debate League is pleased to invite you to our annual UMBrooks tournament at the Univeristy of Minnesota!

 

Tournament Date & Time:

Saturday, November 19th from 8:30 AM to 6:15 PM

 

Registration

Registration is currently open on tabroom.com.  You will need a tabroom.com account to register for this tournament.  You can email Travis Ormsby (ormsby@augsburg.edu)or Jake Swede (swedej@augsburg.edu) at the MNUDL if you require assistance in creating your account or registering for the tournament.

 

Please register by Wednesday, November 16th at 1pm.  We can accept new entries only on a space-available basis after this date.

 

Required in-person registration confirmation will be at the tournament site from 8:00 - 8:30.  Please make sure that any last minute partner switches or drops are made at this time.

Entry Fees

Fees are not required for MNUDL schools.  For schools outside the MNUDL, the registration fee is $25 per entry, which includes lunch catered by Boca Chica.

 

Judge entries

Please enter your school’s judges on your tabroom.com registration.  Coaches from MNUDL schools are expected to be available to judge.

 

Non-MNUDL schools will need to provide 1 judge for every 2 entries, or fraction thereof.  There will not be judges available for hire at the tournament.

 

Divisions

The tournament offers policy debate in four divisions:  Varsity, JV, Novice, and Rookie.  Novice students are limited to the MDTA evidence packet (all waves are available at this tournament).  Rookie debaters are limited to evidence available in the MNUDL rookie evidence packet.

 

 

Talent Show

One of the traditions of the UMBrooks tournament is a student talent show during the lunch break. Debaters can show off their singing, dancing, poetry slamming, joking, and other talents to win fabulous prizes! (NB: the prizes are candy. Also, no firebreathers or sword swallowers).
 
Interested students can sign up with MNUDL staff after they return from Round 2.

Lunch: 12:15 - 1:30

Awards: 5:45 - 6:15
